Sathya Sai EHV
Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV or Sathya Sai EHV) is a universal, values-based teaching Programme for children of all cultures and faiths.
Sathya Sai EHV addresses the needs of our time by focusing on young people throughout the world and bringing out the human values that are innate within everyone.
If we want to grow an oak tree, first we must plant an acorn.
Sathya Sai Education in Human Values is simply-structured; it fosters and cultivates universal Human Values common to all cultures and creeds from time immemorial. It’s intrinsic characteristics are the firm conviction that true education is a life long learning process, that concentration is the essence of education and character the end, and that the human personality can reach out towards excellency through an articulated pattern of integral learning, thus attaining the expression of its full potential.
Just as it is true that mighty oaks grow from tiny acorns, if we want peace and happiness to flourish on our society we need to expose our children to the highest ideals from the earliest years of their lives. Only in this way will their noblest character blossom as they grow and develop into caring and responsible adults who learn to meet life’s challenges with resourcefulness, positivity and inner strength.
Sathya Sai Education not only wishes to equip our youth with the needed skills and information to earn a living, but endeavors to do so with the necessary moral, ethical and spiritual understanding. By adopting an overall educational concept that is less materialistic and job oriented and more concerned with character development and the recovery of the sense of being, of humaness and the intrinsic value of life, it hopes to contribute to the unfolding of a new paradigm in education, capable of providing accademic excellence, but also of instilling courage, self confidence and ideals in our youth, needed more than ever in todays times.
The future of our world depends on the consciousness of its people.
Sathya Sai Education is not alone in the attempt to promote value education. There are numerous commendable efforts in this respect, worldwide. ‘Philosophy in the classroom’ links schooling to the human quest for Truth; ‘Empathy in the classroom’ links schooling to the human quest for Love. Research regarding concentration and meditation programmes at school, coupled with new skills for the positive management of emotions is being carried out, linking schooling to the human quest for Peace, while all experience in value education seeks a quality of life based on moral and ethical values, linking schooling to the value of Righteousness.
“True education does not merely enable a child to learn how to earn his living, it equips him to live his life.” Sathya Sai
